In 2004 my weight was out of control. I was overweight and miserable. I made a decision to lose weight and I started my journey. I have to say that I found eating healthy was mentally easier than the decision to exercise. I thought "I’m too embarrassed to go to the gym". So I wouldn't’t go. A friend of mine told me about Shapes and encouraged me to join. I took her advice and I am so glad that I listened. From the first day I felt so comfortable. No fears of people being judgmental or having to act like an exercise guru. Debra and Sandra were so encouraging from the start. I’ve gone from struggling to complete one round to two rounds plus actually running on the treadmill. If I can do it – Anyone can do it! I joined Shapes to have a place to exercise. What I got in return is an awesome place to exercise, new friends who have inspired me, encouraged me and kept me going. To date, since beginning my journey, I have lost 80 pounds and I would not be where I am without my "Shapes Family". When I started "Shapes Fitness" it was because I desperately needed to get my body moving again . Due to health issues I wasn’t sure I could or would stay with it. Debra & Sandra encouraged me to stick with it and do what I could as I tried to build my strength again. A year and a half has passed and I’m proud of myself for staying with the program even when I didn’t want to. Now, I not only go because I have to for my own well being but because I want to. I feel very comfortable working out in a women’s only gym. I have been working out at Shapes Fitness for almost 2 years and it is the longest that I have ever been able to stick with any exercise program. I have dropped out of all of the previous gyms that I have joined out of frustration or intimidation after the first month. I have now lost weight and many inches and really appreciate the support from the staff at Shapes. The atmosphere is very positive and non-intimidating. I have been a member at Shapes for about 5 months. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the facility. The ladies at Shapes make you feel so welcome and are so encouraging.
